A Wet Welsh Adventure

A Wet Welsh Adventure

We kitted up travel writer Lucy White and her Fiancé Evan Watson with all the gear for their recent family holiday - the first with a new baby in tow!

Wales here we come!

Embarking on a family holiday with a new baby in tow can be a thrilling yet challenging adventure. For our recent getaway to Wales, we decided to explore the enchanting Fairy Glen and the breathtaking Bodnant Estate. Armed with clothing from British Summer Time (BST), we were prepared for the unpredictable Welsh weather. In this blog post, join me, Lucy White, as I share our experiences and review the BST coat, mid-layer jumper, and base layer that kept us comfortable throughout our Welsh escapade.

Fairy Glen:

Tucked away near the North Welsh village of Betws-y-Coed, Fairy Glen is a hidden gem boasting cascading waterfalls, moss-covered rocks, and a lush canopy of orange trees. We meandered along picturesque pathways, crossed quaint stone bridges, and revelled in the tranquility of our surroundings. The winter winds greeted us, but thanks to our BST layers, we felt snug and protected.

The Wanderer coat, with its stylish design, proved to be a versatile companion. Its water-proof properties kept us dry when the occasional drizzle descended upon us. Meanwhile, the mid-layer jumper was excellent for the changing weathers, providing warmth without the bulk. The base layer, was super comfy but it was only really necessary to wear all three together once when it got really cold.  Wales is close to our hearts with family coming from here so it was great to be back.  Fairy Glen really is a beautiful place, we spent the day navigating through the glen and pausing to take in the mesmerizing scenery.

However, the ever-changing Welsh weather did keep us on our toes. Our little one, in particular, had a few moments of discontent as the rain made an unexpected appearance. Despite our best efforts to shield the baby, the rain caused a bit of fuss. Yet, we remained perfectly dry in our Wanderer Jackets.  Don't worry our youngest adventurer also stayed dry and content after a brief spell of Welsh rain!

Bodnant Estate:

Our adventure led us to the historic Bodnant Estate in Conwy, Wales. Spanning approximately 80 acres, the estate boasts stunning gardens, woodlands, and water features. Known for its diverse plant collections, including rare and exotic species, Bodnant Estate is a paradise for nature enthusiasts. During our stay, we explored the renowned Bodnant Garden, featuring terraced gardens, formal lawns, and the iconic Laburnum Arch.

As the day warmed up, we didn't need the coats as they are really warm and instead opted for the base and mid layers, allowing us to roam freely and comfortably through the gardens. The BST layers provided the perfect balance of warmth and breathability, ensuring we were prepared for the ever-changing Welsh weather.

Conclusion:

Our Welsh holiday, enriched by the beauty of Fairy Glen and the grandeur of Bodnant Estate, was perfectly accompanied with the reliability of British Summer Time clothing. The combination of the layers proved to be a winning formula for comfort and style, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the wonders of Wales. As a travel writer and a mother, I highly recommend British Summer Time clothing for your next family adventure – because when you're dressed for the occasion, every moment becomes a cherished memory, rain showers and all!
